Yoga & Meditation

Join us any Monday or Wednesday night at 7:00 pm for chanting and a meditation led by Swami Prakashananda, Sharon Ward, or Bob Shoemaker. If you like, join us for a one hour yoga class before to prepare for meditation, starting at 5:45 pm in the meditation hall. Beginners are always welcome.

Hatha yoga is contemplative movement that consists of flowing or held body postures coordinated with breathing and a focused mind. Its intention is to calm and clear your mind, and increase your overall vitality and health. In the time immediately following hatha yoga practice there is a window where your relaxed and open mind can more readily explore and connect to your energetic self. Tapping into this deeper dimension of yoga practice is the experience of meditation. Meditation will awaken your inner strength and joy. It will enlighten your mind to creative possibilities as yet untapped, and empower you to live a full life.

A quote from one of our students

“There is an authenticity – a true passion for and commitment to the integrity of yoga philosophy and the human experience. Transformation and patience aren’t simply ideas at The Movement Center but rather define the existing energy circulating the mission of this place.”“
