Yoga Teacher Training

250-Hour Hatha Yoga Teacher Training:

September 8, 2012 – June 9, 2013

Welcome!

We are honored that you are considering our yoga teacher training.  Whether you aspire to teach yoga, are working toward a deeper understanding of your practice, or both, our training will support your personal growth and transformation into a teacher.  Study with us and you’ll gain skills, find joy in your challenges, and connect with a community of people who share core yoga values.

Why become a yoga teacher?

The timeless teachings of yoga and meditation are desperately needed in today’s uncertain world.  As a Movement Center teacher, you’ll have the tools to share an authentic yoga practice that can open the minds and hearts of the people you teach to their highest potential for well-being.

Our training integrates the elements of a complete yoga practice: asana, meditation, pranayama, study and reflection, the role of a teacher, teaching, and community, care of oneself, and service to others.

We are registered with Yoga Alliance at both the 200-hour and 500-hour level.  This training meets and exceeds the requirements for a 200-hour training.

About The Movement Center

The Movement Center is a dynamic center for meditation and yoga in the tantric tradition of Kashmir Shaivism. Founded by Swami Chetanananda in 1971, it’s both an ashram, and the hub of a vital extended community. Our spiritual lineage springs from Bhagavan Nityananda, a great mahasiddha who lived in Ganeshpuri, India, and his student Swami Rudrananda, one of the first Americans to bring eastern spirituality to this country. Swami Chetanananda is the current lineage holder and spiritual director.
Other centers are located in Santa Monica, New York City, Boston, Seattle, and Kathmandu, Nepal. The Movement Center is a non-profit 501(c) (3) organization.
When you step through the gates, a feeling of peace, grace, and support envelops you.
Come over and meet us anytime!

The Teacher Training Faculty
We are a living example of unity within diversity, bringing backgrounds from The Movement Center, Iyengar, Kripalu, Viniyoga, Anusara, and more. Our shared spiritual values, decades of teaching experience, and belief in collaboration ensure a superb training. We are dedicated to supporting your development as a yoga teacher. All trainers are registered with Yoga Alliance.

Who can apply to this training program?

We are looking for people genuinely interested in service to others, who find joy in learning and opening themselves to growth.

If you feel that yoga is an invaluable life-practice that should be accessible to ALL people, then we would love to support you in discovering the amazing teacher that already lives in your heart.

How much experience with asanas do I need to have?

You need to have a solid, regular asana practice, and know how to do the basic yoga poses, for we will not be teaching yoga poses from the ground up.  It doesn’t matter what style of practice you currently do, or how simple or complex your practice may be.
What’s important is that you have experienced asana deeply from within yourself, and understand the power of alignment, awareness, breath, and movement to create flow and well-being.
