Yoga Nidra (Yogic Sleep) is an ancient practice which brings the deeper layers of us into experience to create relaxation physically, psychologically, mentally, and energetically. During the practice of Yoga Nidra your consciousness is guided, and travels through all these layers (lokas).
As consciousness moves through the mind and body, a temporary dissociation takes place which helps these layers find a natural balance. This is the time when the door opens to growth, the experience of total well-being, and “ananda” (bliss). The practice of Yoga Nidra is cumulative, blossoming out days and weeks after each session.
In Yoga Nidra, you do not have to concentrate. Your consciousness is guided by the instructor from one part of the body to another, from one layer of being to another. Just hear the instructions, and a deep relaxation will occur at physiological, psychological and emotional levels. Sometimes consciousness is suspended for a few moments, alternating between sub-conscious and unconscious states.
Taught by Roland Levesque, RYT
Although Roland isn’t able to teach Yoga Nidra for the foreseeable future, he is hopeful that he’ll be able to return to the schedule on a monthly basis – perhaps later in 2012. Stay tuned.
