How do I start a yoga practice at The Movement Center?
The first thing to understand is that you can get started with hatha yoga just as you are. Sometimes people think they need to change their diet, lose weight, or get in shape before starting yoga. Not so! We offer Beginners Yoga Immersions to take you step by step through the essential yoga poses (asanas) so you can feel confident about practicing them safely, breathing consciously for a deeper experience of the asanas, for stress management, and for meditation. There truly is a yoga practice for everyone.

My beginners yoga immersion will introduce you to the basic building blocks of a yoga practice, and the five levels that serve as guidelines to optimize your experience of yoga practice. By learning to move with, 1) Alignment of the body, 2) Conscious breathing, 3) Inner awareness, and 4) Release, you can naturally begin to experience 5) Presence, or a change of state.
Once you understand how to use these tools, you can always bring them to your yoga practice to experience a greater flow of energy and sense of well-being. Register for the Monday “Beginners Yoga Immersion”.

The path of yoga is vast and diverse. This beginning yoga class will explore the basic concepts of how we make contact within ourselves and learn to align our bodies and breath with movement.
The following is an overview of what you can expect:
~ Yoga asanas (poses) will be understandable and accessible for everyone.
~ The class will move at a pace designed to allow you to ask questions and/ or receive adjustments.
~ You will learn how to use asana (poses) to strengthen your body and help you relax.
~ Conscious breath work
~ Basic yoga concepts will flow into our practice as we move through the 5 week course.
I am an enthusiastic teacher looking forward to sharing the knowledge and tools I have with you!

OTHER GOOD OPTIONS FOR BEGINNING STUDENTS
If you have a health condition where either individual instruction would be better, or you simply need to go at your own pacing, then private instruction, or Healing Yoga Practice may be the right option. We recommend that you call us at (503) 231-0383, ext. 15, and have a conversation about your interests, goals, and current state of health, or better yet, come over and we can talk in person about how you can get started, and show you around The Movement Center.
